The Energy Commission has disassociated itself from a mobile money account operating in its name.
The commission in an urgent notice to the public categorically stated that it does not own or operate any mobile money account.
This follows reports of unauthorized persons taking monies for services rendered by the commission through a mobile money account.
“It has come to the attention of the Energy Commission that some unscrupulous persons are collecting monies in the name of the commission purportedly for processing of applications for, and renewal of electrical wiring certificates to various categories of qualified electrical wiring professionals.”
The communique went on to warn the public about persons parading as representatives of the commission and demanding money via mobile money or other means for any purpose whatsoever.
