Some residents in parts of the Greater Kumasi Metropolis are struggling to access water following an acute water shortage.
For the past three days, public water consumers at Atonsu, Dichemso, Kwadaso and many parts of the metropolis have been without water flowing through their taps.
The situation has put strenuous burdens on residents in accessing water, as some are compelled to rely on underground water dug within the communities.
The Ghana Water Limited in the region attributes the acute water shortage to power fluctuations at some of its treatment plants.
Power supply to the Barekese, Owabi and Achiase booster have, for the past few days not been stable, impacting water production and distribution to the city.
According to Ghana Water, the current voltage levels to the treatment plant and booster stations are low to produce and distribute the potable water to many households.
The Electricity Company of Ghana in the region explains that a conductor on one of the transmission lines at the Bekwai roundabout, supplying power to the plant,s fell to the ground, disrupting power distribution.
The power distributor indicated that repair works have been completed to restore power to the area.
However, many households wait in earnest to see water flow through their taps for their commercial and household chores.
