The Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku, says the sport will be “meaningless” without fan involvement at match venues.
The sector has faced low attendance, especially on the domestic scene, with giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak struggling to fill their stadia during matches.
Speaking at the 30th Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, Okraku emphasized his commitment to improving the situation.
"We have themed today's congress, winning the 12th man, fixing the fundamentals and consolidating our gains," he said.
“This is in recognition of our responsibility to make our game attractive for the fans of football without whose patronage, our game is meaningless for it is this very fans who throng our match venues and consume the product and services we offer.
“We certainly owe it to our beautiful game to continue our efforts to make the game attractive to our fans and all stakeholders.”
The Ghana Premier League is set to kick off on September 6, 2024, with the Division One and Women’s Football Leagues following shortly thereafter.
