The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has relieved Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton of his duties with immediate effect.
The Ghana Football Association in a statement issued on Tuesday, January 23 , 2024 on its website, said, "The GFA wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior National team with immediate effect.
The Executive Council has also taken a decision to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars" it added.
The Ghana Football Association said it will in the coming days "provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars."
Chris Hughton has already claimed responsibility for Ghana's last minute collapse against Mozambique which left the Black Stars out of another group stage exit at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Stars gave away a two-goal lead in the space of six minutes to draw 2-2 with Mozambique in their last Group B game at the Olympic Stadium in Abidjan on Monday night.
The result has left the stars in 3rd position in the group, with only 2 points, and now desperately need a miracle to qualify as one of the four 3rd place teams.
Speaking at the post game press conference, Hughton said,"I take responsibility for this performance and admit my results with the Black Stars have not been good enough."
But he stopped short of resigning from his position.
