The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported that Ghana recorded no case of cholera in the year 2020.
Director-General of the Ghana Health Service Dr Patrick who spoke to JoyNews attributed the success chalked to the safety protocols set up to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Patrick Aboagye noted that all Senior High Schools have been mapped to health facilities across the country upon reopening of schools as announced by President Akufo-Addo in his 21st address on the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, the Ghana Health Service conducted an assessment on several health institutions to ensure these facilities are well equipped.
"The pre-school and lower primary will be monitored across and supported with the existing school health platform with health workers going to school. There will be the provision of masks, veronica buckets and washrooms will be disinfected.”
He noted that teachers would be oriented on how to identify risk conditions and the right ways in dealing with such situations.
The Director-General of GHS, nonetheless, urged all educational institutions to enforce and adhere to the safety covid-19 protocols laid out by the government.
