The Ghana South African Business Chamber has bemoaned the high cost of doing business in the country.

According to the Chamber, the situation is impacting negatively on both small and large enterprises.

President of the Chamber, Grant Weber, has therefore advised businesses to manage their costs effectively in order to withstand the challenging times.

He spoke to Joy Business at the 3rd Rainbow Nations Challenge organised by the chamber.

The Ghana South African Business Chamber’s Rainbow Nations challenge was organised to foster deeper relations between members and the international business community. The challenge, which involves tennis matches included 56 players from 20 countries.

Mr. Weber bemoaned the unfavorable economic situation that their businesses are grappling with.

“I don’t think the economy is picking up. If anything, it’s probably more difficult...so for our members, it’s a tough time, it’s not easy for both small and big businesses. At the moment, businesses have to be resilient and have your costs under control until you can generate more sales”, he said.

Vice President of the Chamber, Chris Everts said the challenge presents members with the opportunity to exercise and ensure their general well being.

The Ghana South Africa Business Chamber is established to promote and enhance trade, investment and cultural interactions between Ghana and South Africa.

The business chamber consists of members from the mining, trade, financial services, real estate engineering, agro processing, manufacturing, import and export services, and energy sectors respectively.
