Renowned actress, creative industry icon, and philanthropist, Akorfa Edjeani, has urged Ghanaians to exercise patience as the country navigates its way out of the current economic challenges.
Akorfa Edjeani expressed hope in the leadership of President-elect John Dramani Mahama but cautioned that the recovery process would not be swift.
She said this during a Thanksgiving Service organised by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho West Constituency, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra.
The Thanksgiving Service, which marked Mr Bedzra’s 5th term victory, was attended by party supporters and constituents to celebrate the victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 7, 2024, general elections.

“For me, this win is very significant. It tells us that Ghanaians are very tired of the arrogance and the malfeasance, the financial doldrums that the elephant plunged us into,” Akorfa Edjeani said.
The celebrated actress did not hold back in her assessment of the country's current economic state, blaming the outgoing administration for the struggles Ghanaians face today.
“What I am expecting from H.E. John Dramani Mahama is to lead us out of all these economic nightmares. It’s not going to be easy, so I indulge all Ghanaians to be patient because there is nothing in the coffers, let’s be realistic.
"The country has been turned upside down. They have stolen everything, all the money is gone. It’s going to take time to recover, so I hope that Ghanaians will be patient and we will come together as one people,” she urged.
Madame Edjeani emphasised unity and collaboration, encouraging citizens to work hand in hand to restore Ghana’s fortunes.
“We all have to work hand in hand together to reset Ghana and build Ghana for the Ghana that we want.”

Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, the re-elected MP for Ho West, added his voice to the call for national recovery. Addressing his constituents, he assured them of decisive action in the early days of the new administration.
“Within 120 days of the incoming administration, all loots will be recovered,” Mr Bedzra promised, adding that the NDC manifesto would be fully implemented to address the specific needs of the Ho West Constituency.
Mr Bedzra’s victory was emphatic, polling 28,110 votes to defeat his opponent, Eric Nick Yao Gonyuie of the NPP, who secured just 5,043 votes out of 33,775 votes cast.
The event highlighted not only the significance of Mr Bedzra’s re-election but also the growing anticipation among Ghanaians for change under President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
The call for unity and patience resonated strongly among attendees, as the NDC prepares to deliver on its promises.
