The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, has been honoured with the title of Nɔyaa Mantsɛ (Development Chief) of the Ga State in recognition of his outstanding contributions to sports and national development.
At a colourful enstoolment ceremony held on Sunday at the Ga Mantsɛ Stool House in Accra, Nunoo Mensah was given the stool name "Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I."
The event attracted a host of dignitaries, including traditional leaders, government officials, and members of the sports fraternity.
As Nɔyaa Mantsɛ, Nunoo Mensah, who also serves as the Director of Barari DV Ghana Lithium Concession, will assist in completing key development projects initiated by the Ga Mantsɛ, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, to uplift the Ga State.
During the ceremony, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II praised Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I for his steadfast commitment to promoting sports and youth development across Ghana.
He encouraged him to stay focused on his new role and ignore any distractions that might impede his efforts.
The King also urged the new chief to prioritise the welfare of the entire Ga State, stressing the importance of selflessness in leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I expressed his gratitude to the Ga Mantsɛ and the Gyaasetsɛ, Dr. Nii Tetteh Quaye, for the honour.

"I am humbled by this great recognition," he said, as quoted Graphic, dedicating the title to the sports community and pledging to continue his work in advancing sports excellence in the country.
He also highlighted his immediate focus on assisting the King in youth development through education.
"I am very pleased that King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has initiated the King Tackie Teiko Tsuru Education Fund. With this, we can provide as many scholarships as possible to the youth of Ghana.
"There are many challenges in the Ga State, and I believe I can help the King restore the State to its former glory."
As the President of the GOC, Nunoo Mensah has played a pivotal role in promoting Olympic sports and supporting Ghanaian athletes, leading to notable improvements in the nation's international sporting achievements.

He has also previously led sporting federations, including the Ghana Cricket Association and the Ghana Weightlifting Association.
The Ga State also has a Development Queenmother, Madam Elizabeth Naa Anyema Nunoo, a businesswoman and owner of Odo Rice Food and Services.
She was enstooled in August 2018 under the stool name Naa Anyema Ablade Okropong.
A grand coronation ceremony for both Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I and Naa Anyema Ablade Okropong is expected to be held in the coming months.
