Karela United earned a convincing 2-0 victory over Legon Cities on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, moving them out of the relegation zone.
Karela United dominated the early stages, and their persistence paid off in the 22nd minute. Karela United defender Jibril Nurudeen was fouled in the penalty area, and midfielder Abdul Latif converted the penalty to give the hosts a well-deserved lead at halftime.
Legon Cities were unable to breach the defence of the home side despite efforts.
Karela substitute Giyasu Ibrahim sealed the win with a goal in the dying minutes, securing all three points for the host.
This victory moves Karela to 15th place in the league standings with 25 points.
They have now completed a double over Legon Cities this season, having beaten them by the same scoreline on matchday four at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Legon Cities' struggles continue, with only one win in their last matches, leaving them four points behind Karela United in the relegation zone.
Karela United's next match is against Nations FC, while Legon Cities seek a win against Young Apostles.
