The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Emmanuel Kofi Nti has reiterated the call on staff of the Authority to uphold the code of conducts of the GRA in a bid to improve its image and win the confidence of the public.
He warned that he intends to rid the Authority of the malpractices that have tarnished its reputation in the past by sanctioning officers who flout the laws.
Mr. Nti was speaking at the GRA Academy in Kpetoe in the Agortime Ziope District of the Volta Region during the passing out parade for senior cadet officers of the customs division of the Authority after nine months intensive training.
A total of 51 cadet officers graduated out of which 31 were females and 20 males, the first time in the history of the Academy, that females outnumbered males.
Aside physical training and drills, the officers studied courses such as customs law and operations, patrol and preventive duties, first aid among others.
The Commissioner-General entreated the new officers to justify the expenditure on their training while at the same time exhibiting honesty, integrity and professionalism especially at this time when enough revenue is needed for the country’s industrial growth.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa urged staff of the GRA to increase its revenue mobilisation for government to execute more development projects.
