The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has emphasized the government's commitment to fostering unity and development within the Greater Accra Region.
Mr. Titus-Glover detailed the administration's efforts to enhance infrastructure, security, and social services during a presentation of food items on Thursday to His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, in support of the Homowo celebrations.
Reflecting on his tenure as Deputy Minister of Transport, Titus-Glover recounted handing over the Jamestown Fishing Harbour site to a Chinese contractor and praised the progress made so far.
“What we saw at the Jamestown port was impressive. It’s a testament to the development efforts of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia. The fishing harbour will relieve our fishermen, women, and youth engaged in trade,” he said.
Highlighting ongoing infrastructure projects, Titus-Glover mentioned the Obetsebi-Lamptey Interchange, which had faced financial delays but is back on track, hoping to be completed by end of year.
He also noted significant work on the Tema Beach Road to Osu and the Adenta to Dodowa Road, with a presidential visit scheduled for next week.
“The development of roads is crucial for the region and the country. We are also focusing on education, with infrastructure improvements and the benefits of the free SHS policy evident in every household. It is a game-changer that enhances the human capital of our children,” Titus-Glover added.
The Minister also addressed security concerns, noting that the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has identified flashpoints, particularly around the Teshie area, and has alerted the police to remain vigilant.
He mentioned an upcoming REGSEC meeting dedicated to ensuring peace in Teshie.
He also mentioned that the items were from the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and His Excellency, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to wish the Ga Mantse a joyous Homowo celebration.
“We are here on behalf of His Excellency, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and His Excellency, the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to wish the Ga Mantse a joyous Homowo celebration. The President has asked us to present these items as part of our support,” Titus-Glover stated.
He highlighted the team's visits to various clan houses, including Otublohum, kpakpa kakadan We, Sakumo We, Nai We, Nii Mankatta, Ga Wolei Atse, Korle We, Jorbu We and Oku We on Monday, and the Sempe Traditional Area, Mamprobi Sempe, Ngleshie Alata, Nii Ashitey Okortsoshishi, Asere Jooshishi, Frimpong We, Asere Tson), Abola, and Gbese on Tuesday.
He noted that the visits concluded at the Ga Mantse Palace on Thursday, following stops at the Ga Dzaase Tse and the Nii Amarkai Tse We.
“This is what sets us apart from other tribes. Our goal is to promote unity and development within our communities. It is our prayer that the Ga Mantse will continue to lead us, showcasing the rich culture of the Ga-Dangme people,” he said.
The minister also stressed the need for peace and unity to ensure the continued progress and development of the Greater Accra Region.
The Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, expressed his gratitude towards the Regional Minister, and the Mayor of Accra, for the gesture.
"I feel happy that you have embarked on an initiative like this. It shows the President has love for the people of Ga, so what I can only say and do is to express my appreciation, " he said.
The Chief Priest of the Ga state later prayed for the officials, asking that no evil befalls them or their plans for the future. He wished all "peace and long life."
The items presented included bags of maize, palm fruits, tubers of yam, drums of palm oil, 1 cartons of assorted drinks, and an undisclosed amount of money.
