The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially ushered in the most anticipated season of the year with the launch of the sixth edition of the ‘December in GH’ events and festivities calendar.
Held at the Castle Gardens in Osu on Friday, August 23, 2024, the event marked another milestone in the ongoing success of the Beyond The Return initiative, which debuted in 2019.
This year’s edition promises an array of activities that are not just concentrated in Accra but spread across various regions, ensuring that everyone has a piece of the action.
The Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Andrew Agyapa Mercer, took to the stage to highlight the significant economic impact that both the Year of Return and December in GH have had on Ghana.
“Year of Return and December in Ghana have had substantial impacts on Ghana’s economy, and we can't underemphasize that. My outfit is committed to promoting this initiative," he remarked, underscoring the government's dedication to making Ghana a top global destination.

Applauding the leadership behind the initiative, the Minister lauded the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman, whose vision and hard work have continually placed Ghana in the international spotlight.
The CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority also highlighted the rigorous selection process for the events that make it onto the official calendar.
“All events that are selected as part of the December in GH events undergo the necessary processes and deliberations by a steering committee to ensure that all events lined up on the calendar are successful and enjoyable for all people who attend," Agyeman explained.
His call to action was clear: "I encourage all Ghanaians to join in this year’s mission to give Ghana a global appeal and make all events lined up from sceneries and education through to nightlife and recreation a success."
With the stage set and the calendar packed with a lot of exciting activities, December in GH 2024 is set to be an unforgettable experience.
Whether you're a local looking to rediscover your homeland or a visitor eager to soak in the culture, Ghana is the place to be this December.
So mark your calendars, pack your bags, and get ready to celebrate because December in GH is where the world meets Ghana!
