Ho-based Home Stars secure qualification to Division One League

Ho-based Home Stars Football Club has secured qualification to play in the Division One League following a victory over Inter Allies Football Club.

The finale of the Adonai Estate Division Two Super Middle League ended one apiece after 90 minutes of regulation time.

Robert Osei Bonso gave Inter Allies the lead with a header goal in the 28th minute. Their lead was, however, short-lived when Home Stars equalised through a penalty by Stephen Addor in the 39th minute.

Both teams played their hearts out in the second half but failed to score ending the game at level pegging.

Home Stars FC sealed qualification for the Division One League by winning 4:2 in a penalty shootout.

The lead striker of Home Stars FC, Ronald Numeyah, who played a significant role in the team's qualification described the feat as a boost to his professional career.

He lauded the contribution of his team members and technical staff to his performance in the 2022/2023 Adonai Estate Volta Division Two League. He was the top goal scorer of the season, scoring 20 goals in 20 matches.

“I am the leading goal scorer, I am very happy as a player, I didn't do that as an individual, we did it as a team. In the name of Jesus, my technical team, my coaches, they all added up to the achievement”, he said.

He indicated that the team would continue to work to improve its performance to match up with other Division One League teams to enable them to excel in the 2023/2024 season.

The Head Coach of Home Stars FC, Christian Chibueze, said the qualification “means a lot” to him after leading the team in the Division Two League for 3 seasons.

“Two seasons ago we made it to the final and lost on penalties. Last season we fought hard but couldn't make it to the middle league. This season, from the onset, we were focused and we believe in God, and with hard work, that we will go through. This [qualifying] means a lot to me”, said emotional Chibueze.

He said the entire team would be rejuvenated heading into the National Division One League for better results, as the team pushes to qualify to play at the elite level, Premier League.

The CEO of Adonai Estate, Rev Bright Adonai, acknowledged the development of football in the Volta Region and commended the Regional Football Association.

He, however, indicated that his outfit has identified certain loopholes that focus would be given in the coming season to propel the growth of the discipline.
