Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, says he is expecting President John Mahama to appoint key individuals from opposition political parties into his government, citing their experience and competency.
Among those he recommended to the president is the former Trade Minister from the NPP government, Alan Kyerematen, who later became the founder and leader of the Movement for Change in the 2024 general elections.
"I was expecting Mr. Alan Kyerematen to be appointed into his government because he is someone with a lot of experience," he said on JoyNews' The Probe with Emefa Apawu on Sunday.
Mr. Appiah-Kubi explained that he had hoped Mr. Mahama would give Mr. Kyerematen the trade ministry or a special portfolio to manage.
"I expected him to come in as the trade minister or to oversee certain ministries, but I haven't seen him or heard of him at all (in the new government)," he added.
He also suggested to President Mahama that "Mr. Alan Kyerematen is still active, and I expected him to be included."
Additionally, Mr Appiah-Kubi mentioned other opposition NPP members, including Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, whom he believes should be appointed to handle "Parliamentary Affairs, as we need someone with that kind of experience."
