Ghana Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko, have announced the appointment of goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad as the new club's captain.
The 20-year-old will be assisted by Cameroonian Georges Mfegue and Richmond Lamptey as first and second deputies, respectively.
Danlad is entering his eight-season with the Porcupine Warriors since joining the club’s youth side 2016. He wore the armband in some parts of the 2022/23 season.
The 2021 U20 AFCON winner will replace Richard Boadu, who joined Libya’s Al Ahly, as the new permanent Asante Kotoko captain.
“It’s a huge honour for me to be named the new club captain," Ibrahim Danlad told scasantekotoko.com.
"I will say it’s a blessing, and I give thanks to the Almighty Allah, to our noble technical staff and head coach, Prosper Ogum, and our great supporters.
"I am very grateful for this, and I promise to serve wholeheartedly like I have always done since I joined [this club].”
Danlad joined the Porcupine family in August 2016, and made his senior debut in 2019, keeping the post in the absence of former captain, Felix Annan in the Normalisation Committee’s special competition semifinal triumph against Hearts of Oak.
He made his league debut against Aduana FC in the club’s 2021/2022 title-winning season.
