Ghana international Kamaldeen Sulemana says his brace against Liverpool shows he has the quality to deliver for Southampton on a good day.
The forward scored two goals in a thrilling 4-4 draw at St Mary's Park in Southampton's last game of the 2022/23 Premier League but the goals were only a credit for the player as the Saints had suffered relegation.
The 21-year-old joined Southampton during the January transfer window after struggling for game time earlier in the season at Stade Rennes. At Southampton, he had struggled to get off the mark in terms of scoring but the player opened his goal account against the Reds and scored twice on the final day.
In an interview with Daily Echo, the Ghanaian expressed his delight in getting on the scoresheet.
"It might have been too late but I’m glad I finally have my goal, it’s good for me," Kamaldeen said.
"When I came here that is what I wanted to do – set up goals and score to help the team to get results. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to do it but I got my goal.
"There’s a feeling of, why didn’t it come before, why didn’t I score before? But I am glad I have made my mark on the last day and showed what I can do on the good days."
At the moment, the Ghanaian turns attention to the Black Stars' next hurdle with the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar this month.
