John Andor made headlines on the opening day of the African Schools Football Championship 2025 with a brace for Ghana.
The left winger scored in each half to hand Ghana all three points against Uganda at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Andor opened the scoring just three minutes in, finishing at the near post after a solo run.
Ghana controlled the tempo of the game, held their nerves, and went into the break with a one-goal lead.
Right after the restart, Ghana almost doubled their lead.
Emmanuel Drah made a brilliant run down the right flank before unleashing a shot at goal. However, his strike was tipped onto the post by the Ugandan goalkeeper, denying Ghana a second.
Moments later, there was no denying the team, as Andor scored from a rebound after Rockson Adjei’s initial effort.
It was Andor’s second of the game, making him the first player to hit a brace in the competition.
There were a couple of chances for Kwadwo Danso’s team to add to their goals, but they were unable to take their opportunities.
Throughout the game, Uganda threatened little, with Ghana getting their campaign off to a winning start.
Ghana face South Africa in their next game on Thursday, April 24, at 11am before playing Algeria later in the day.
Good strides for Team Ghana in their first-ever CAF African Schools Football Championship appearance.
