The Accra Metropolitan Assembly's environmental health inspectors have issued a final warning to three recalcitrant environmental offenders at Chorkor and Mamprobi in the Ablekuma sub-metro of the Greater Accra Region to desist from producing food in a hazardous environment.
The offenders who were selling and producing food for sale in an unhygienic environment, had previously been cautioned by the health officers to keep their environment clean.
However, a routine visit to the community under the Joy Clean Ghana Campaign revealed the verbal warning issued them so far was not working.
For instance, Joyce Alottey who is the owner of St. Kpakpo’s Food Joint where she sells local foods and drinks had a very poor immediate surroundings.
When the officers entered the kitchen, they came upon foodstuff and fish kept unwholesomely, much against the AMA environmental by-laws.
The two others- Daniel and Asare operate a bred factory in a cobweb infested and unkempt space. There were others also who were operating without the requisite health certificate.
