Head coach of the Sudan national team, Kwesi Appiah, has been named Men’s Coach of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards, held at the Grand Arena in Accra.
Appiah earned the honour after an impressive year, guiding Sudan to qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
He has also led the team to a strong start in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, securing 12 points from six matches and trailing group leaders DR Congo by just one point.
He beat competition from Frimpong Manso of Bibiani Gold Stars, Kassim Ocansey of Nations FC, and Fiifi Parker-Hanson of Golden Kicks — all of whom had standout seasons in Ghana’s domestic competitions.
The award highlights Appiah’s continued influence on African football, more than a decade after he first took charge of Ghana’s national team.
