Former President John Dramani Mahama has called upon the Muslim community to demonstrate generosity towards the less fortunate in society, emphasising that it lies at the heart of Islam's essence and the importance of solidarity.

In a message he shared on X on Thursday, April 11, to mark the Eid celebrations, Mr. Mahama underscored the significance of carrying each other along, particularly during times of need.

He urged Muslims to reflect on the lessons of patience, discipline, and empathy that are cultivated during Ramadan, encouraging them to draw inspiration from these virtues in their daily lives.

Mr. Mahama's remarks underscores the values of compassion and community spirit inherent in Islamic teachings, reminding believers of their duty to support and uplift those who may be struggling or the marginalised in society.

"My sincere wish is that the enduring lessons of patience, discipline, and empathy that were learnt during Ramadan will continue to inspire and guide us as a people."

"May this special occasion bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to you and your loved ones. Let us also take this opportunity to extend our compassion and generosity to those who are less fortunate," he posted.
