The third edition of the Luv FM High School Debate has become more exciting as it reaches the Round of 16.
The competition, organized for Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Ashanti region, has seen talents in public speaking battle out on various topics like “Politicians are to blame for electoral violence”, “Voting age must be reduced to 16” and “Covid-19 vaccination should be made mandatory”.
Over 70 schools contested at the zonal qualifying stage which was categorized in phases.
Debaters took turns arguing out their stance on the motions given, as judges carefully scrutinized their arguments to give the necessary evaluation.
In all, the more distinct schools proceeded to the next stage of the competition.
Qualifying Schools
Sixteen schools qualified for the next round of the competition as supporters were treated to an incessant battle of facts and figures.
Zone 1 – Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS, Afia Kobi Ampem Girls SHS, Prempeh College
Zone 2 – Anglican SHS, St. Hubert Seminary, Fomena T.I AMASS
Zone 3 – KNUST SHS, Presby SHS (Bompata), T.I AMASS, Kumasi
Zone 4 – Presby SHTS, Ghana Muslim Mission, Adventist Girls SHS
Semi-finalists in the previous edition gained automatic qualification to the next contest. They are St. Monica’s Girls SHS, Opoku Ware School, Tepa SHS, St. Jerome SHS.
“We are zooming into the main launch on Friday, May 21 and expect the most exciting debate in this year’s debate,” said Event Coordinators, James Alfred Hermans.

The debate is set to be aired on JoyPrime and Joy Learning channels on Multi-TV.
The 2021 Luv FM High School Debate is in partnership withThe Ghana Education Service, The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), The Ashanti Regional SRC and The Writer’s and Debaters’ Society.
