Man allegedly kills ex-wife at Sehwi Yerepemso

A 36-year-old man identified as Nii from Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality has allegedly killed his ex-wife, Afua Patricia.

The murder of the 32-year-old lady occurred at Sehwi Yerepemso in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.

According to the former Assemblyman of Papaasi electoral area, Baba Solomon, the incident happened on Sunday, February 18, 2024, between 7:30 am and 8:00 am, as the victim was on her way to tidy up the church before the morning service.

Baba Solomon claimed that Afua Patricia and Nii had been married briefly, and have a one-and-a-half-year-old baby. The union however, broke down, for which reason she returned to her mother at Sehwi Yerepemso.

Baba Solomon told Adom News in an interview that Nii continuously complained of the wife's return to her mother's place, and used that excuse to foment trouble.

He emphasised that Afua Patricia every Sunday morning, goes to the church to tidy up the place before service begins.

“She goes to tidy and clean up the Church of Pentecost and then goes back home to dress up and come to church”.

Baba Solomon pointed out that on her way home, Afua Patricia met her ex-husband, and unfortunately, her ex-boyfriend, who had been in the village for about two weeks, attacked and stabbed her in various parts of her body, leading to her tragic death.

He said Afua's mother who had been waiting at home for her daughter to attend church together, grew concerned when Afua didn't show up.

“Her mother went towards the church route to search for her daughter and encountered her daughter's ex-husband along the way.

"She asked Nii where his wife was, but Nii told the mother that Afua Patricia had gone on an errand so he took the lead home.

Baba Solomon said the woman's mother, growing concerned, went to report her daughter's absence to the village committee.

“She informed the committee that her daughter's disappearance was unusual”, he added.

The village committee detained Nii and questioned him about his wife's whereabouts, but he only said he didn’t know her whereabouts.

The committee then requested the police to arrest the man as he was the last person seen with Afua Patricia.

“When the police arrived, that was when Nii said the truth and led them to where his wife's body was”.

Meanwhile the deceased has been deposited at the Sehwi Juaboso government hospital morgue while the alleged killer has been arrested by the police at Sehwi Adjofua.
