Black Stars head coach, Milovan Rajevac has urged his team to put the disappointing draw with Ethiopia behind them, and channel their energy into Sunday's game against South Africa.
The Black Stars had the opportunity to go one point of South Africa in Group G, but conceding in the last quarter of the game meant Ghana could only pick up a point against Ethiopia.
South Africa who beat Zimbabwe in the late Group G fixture by a single goal, are now three points clear of the Black Stars in the group.
However with Bafana Bafana managing just one goal versus Zimbabwe, the Black Stars are still the sole determinants of if they will qualify to the play-offs of the World Cup qualifiers, or not.
The mathematics and permutations have already begun within Ghana's football community, but Milo has prompted his team to turn deaf ears to the noise and focus on beating South Africa.
"Of course it [draw with Ethiopia] disrupted as a little bit but we have to forget this as quickly as possible because we have the crucial match on Sunday. For us it is important to concentrate now for this match and get what it takes to win. Whatever happened today - even if we won today, we needed to win in the last match. So definitely, the last match is the crucial one, so we have to give our best, to rally our troops and deliver a good performance and get this place in the playoffs," Milo said in his press conference.
The Black Stars started the game on the front foot - proactively engaging Ethiopia in a high press and creating good goal-scoring chances they didn't take.
As the game progressed the energy the Black Stars started the game with waned, and Ethiopia eventually took control of the game, submerging Ghana under consistent pressure.
The pressure paid off with the Black Stars making many numerous errors, with one eventually leading to Ethiopia's equalizer.
Milo recognizes his team's errors and paid recognition to Ethiopia who made life difficult for the Black Stars.
"I want to congratulate my boys for fighting very hard. We were expecting a tough match today and I want to congratulate the Ethiopians for a really good performance. They deserved this result. We had some problems especially in the defense today, we made some mistakes so after all everything will be decided on Sunday. So for us it’s important to win on Sunday with a two goal difference if we want to qualify for the final round of the qualification of the World Cup," Rajevac said.
The Black Stars on Sunday, will want to avoid missing out on two consecutive World Cups after missing out on the 2018 event.
The match will kick-off at 7pm.
South Africa's 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe has developed certain situations for Ghana's World Cup qualification hopes.
Ghana, behind South Africa with three points, will qualify to the play-offs of the World Cup qualifiers with a win by any margin.
A 1-0 victory for Ghana in Cape Coast means the Black Stars and Bafana Bafana will have the same number of points and the same goal difference of four. However Ghana will progress because they will have scored more goals.
When two teams in the same group are locked on the same number of points, qualification to the World Cup is first decided by the overall goal difference and goals scored.
