Executive Director of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) Dr Prince Hamid Armah has picked nomination forms to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in his native Kwesimintsim.
He arrived at the party office on Thursday in the company of hundreds of supporters, including delegates who had contributed to enable him to purchase the forms, priced by the party at ¢2000.
Speaking after picking the forms, the education consultant spoke about how close he has been with communities in Kwesimintim, his experience and his burning desire to provide quality and dedicated leadership to the constituency.
Dr Armah said his travels around the world had convinced him of the need for Ghana to have competent leadership which will help propel it to the levels of its more developed peers in the global community.
He emphasised the need for unity in the party and said it was his intention to heal the long-running divisions in the constituency in order to win a resounding victory in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections in the constituency.
Dr Armah has been a member of the party for over two decades and has previously served as secondary schools coordinator in the Western Region, constituency youth secretary, TESCON secretary and member of the regional communications team.
He has also held elected office before as an assemblyman.
The Kwesimintsim primary of the ruling party seems set to be a two-way challenge between Dr Prince Armah and the incumbent Member of Parliament, Joseph Mensah.
Recent polling puts Dr Armah ahead and he has already received several endorsements from party members and delegates who will be voting in the 25th April Primary.
