The grassroots of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta region have lauded President Mahama’s decision to appoint James Gunu as the Volta Regional Minister.
According to the NDC members, Mr Gunu has all the qualities to occupy such an important position, bearing in mind his background in local governance.
They made this known during a celebration of the nomination at the Volta Regional NDC office in Ho.
There was wild jubilation at the grassroots of the NDC following the announcement of James Gunu as the Volta Regional Minister.

James Gunu served as the Akatsi North DCE between 2013 and 2017, before being elected as Volta Regional NDC Secretary.
The grassroots described the decision as apt, taking into consideration the persona and capabilities of Mr Gunu.
A member of the NDC, Mawuse believes people of the region would experience a positive impact with Mr Gunu at the helm of affairs adding that “his hard work has paid off.”
The Ho West NDC Constituency Secretary, Wisdom Sedzro praised Mr Gunu’s human relations and approach to work delivery, especially party activities.

He expressed optimism the nominee would translate the same energy he injected in the 2024 campaign activities to the administration of the region.
“It is the best choice so far because Gunu is a person who is down to earth. He is there for everybody and doesn’t discriminate. He is always ready to answer the call and address the issues of the grassroots”, he said.
The Volta Regional NDC Deputy Organiser, Elliot Wogbe asserted that the NDC would remain in power for a long time because Mr Gunu is a grassroots person and would represent the interests of the grassroots.
“Very fantastic guy, excellent guy. I am so much excited. I can tell you that Gunu’s relationship with the grassroots and his leadership style would make us retain power for long”, said Elliot Wogbe.

The Volta Regional NDC Deputy Communication Officer, Bright Kugbeadzor thanked President Mahama for accepting their proposed nominee, Mr Gunu, believing he has the characteristics to advance the development agenda of the region.
He described him as “very hardworking, selfless and loyal to the NDC’s ideals” and an enthusiast who is very concerned about the development of the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.
He also indicated that Mr Gunu has exhibited his capabilities of helping repair the relationship between the government and traditional authorities in the region and advance the course of the Volta Region.
