A spokesperson for an aspiring presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Wakefield Akuaku, has said national executives of the party are aware of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor's 'Ahotɔ' project and would be involved in its implementation.

Speaking on Top Story, Friday, he said the absence of any of the national executives at the launch of the project does not indicate their rejection in any way.

“I believe they are very involved because we informed everybody all and sundry about this project...the national executives are involved, they are very aware of this project…as we go along, you will see the involvement of many people, not just Dr. Kwabena Duffuor,” he said.

When asked about the endorsement of the executives of the project, he said “the national executives encouraged us to make sure that we strengthen the branches in the various constituencies so that we will be ready for the battle in 2024. We are following their clarion call, we have done all internally what is there to be done.”

Mr. Akuaku dismissed any divisions in the party.

“As far as we are concerned, the NDC is one united party, very strong, poised for election victory in 2024 and all and sundry are invited to get involved in anyway they can to make sure that victory 2024 will not elude us. This is what we are all doing,” he stated.

The NDC has said it is re-organising to come back stronger for the 2024 elections. According to Mr. Akuaku, the launch of the 'Ahotɔ' project is part of the party’s re-organisation at the grassroots.

Former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor on Friday launched the grassroots empowerment and self-financing Project, ‘NDC Ahotɔ Project’ for the grassroots.

The Project’s main aim is geared towards setting up micro-businesses in all the 275 Constituencies to create the much needed, but currently unavailable local funding for the day-to-day running of the NDC party at the grassroots level.

This initiative directly responds to the recommendations of a business feasibility study commissioned by Dr. Duffuor and carried out by a team across the country.

It was to establish the most feasible and sustainable business idea capable of helping finance the NDC party activities at the local level.

The project is meant to lessen the burden on MPs and relieve local executives of the huge financial difficulties they face in running the party.

It is believed that the NDC 'Ahotɔ' Project will create a medium for the local party machinery to be financially self-sufficient through regular income streams to help support their ongoing initiatives.
