Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama says his party will not engage in insults and name-calling as it campaigns for the upcoming elections.
Mr Mahama said the NDC has taken note of countless attacks from its opponents on its members especially against his running mate, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
He noted, however, that the party does not intend to respond the same way.
"Our children are listening and copying what we do and it's important that we continue to serve as good role models to them," he said.
He was speaking at a meeting to introduce Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang to the clergy.
The leader of the NDC reminded the former Education Minister of the need to stay focused amidst these attacks.
"My running mate Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang has been encouraged a few days ago by the Osu Mantse to be strong and courageous in the face of what he feared would be a barrage of insults and attacks on her person just because she has decided to serve her country at the highest level.
"And indeed, these unprovoked attacks and insults and lies have already started. But I can assure you and all Ghanaians that Naana Jane and myself will never engage in insults and name calling of our opponents in response," he said.
He further called for togetherness, as the country prepares for the 2020 elections.
