NPP National Organiser, Sammy Awuku

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku says no violence or aggressive behaviour will be tolerated during the party's April, 25 primaries.

According to him, aspirants and their supporters are expected to be decorous in their campaigns and see themselves as one family fighting for one slot.

''We will not hesitate to call anybody out. We will be fair, firm and tough on anyone who tries to take advantage of the process''.

"We will not play with this. We have the registration exercise coming up and as a party, we are preparing for it. We also have the parliamentary process coming up before the general election in December. So we will not let one person's dream become an impediment to all of us in the party,'' he stated.

Mr. Awuku also added that while aspirants will be supported with the necessary advice and encouragement, ''if anyone takes the elephant for granted we will take him out.''

He said he was impressed with the vetting process in the Upper West region and is hoping that the party will perform better than it did in the last election.

So far 12 persons have filed to contest the April 25 primaries of the party in the Upper West Region. With the exception of Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery who is going unopposed, the rest of the 11 have a tough battle ahead.

Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Anthony Karbo will need little effort to defeat Joseph Bison Dontah who he defeated in the last primaries.

Nicknamed as the Sissala East Messi, Ridwan Abass Dauda has lots of confidence of retaining the seat for the NPP should he be retained. He will be contesting against the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Amidu Chinnia Issahaku

Teacher cum musician turned politician, Godfrey Bayong Tangu remains the man to beat in the Wa East constituency. Three other people, two of whom are political rookies  are jockeying to flame out his ambition.

The Sissala West has former District Chief Executive, Salifu Naliwie Baluwie who says he is confident of beating incumbent, Patrick Adama Alhassan.

Patrick Adama Alhassan  however rebutted his claim saying there is no time to mess around. The other aspirant is the Upper West Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, John Boscos Luri Tia.
