Felix Gyamfi, the Acting Director-General of the Ghana National Service Authority (NSA), has unveiled his vision to establish a robust system that will ensure the institution’s sustainability and efficiency.
Mr Gyamfi’s legacy will be defined by three key pillars: stringent auditing systems, standardised operating procedures, and an unshakable payroll system.
“… By the time I leave, I want to be remembered for setting up a very stringent auditing system, standard operating procedures, and then instituting a robust payroll system. That’s if you were to come ten years later, 20 years later, you will dare not touch it,” Mr Gyamfi said on Thursday during a press conference in Accra.
He emphasised the importance of a well-structured payroll and auditing system, which he believed would ensure efficiency, transparency, and sustainability.
He also envisioned a future where service personnel received timely payments without unnecessary delays, fostering trust and reliability in the system.
In addition to structural reforms, Mr Gyamfi urged Ghanaians to pay attention to the upcoming projects and schemes the NSA was rolling out.
According to him, these initiatives were directly aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s agenda for youth development and will have tangible impacts across the country.
“I would want you to pay attention to the National Service Authority in the months to come, as we roll out a series of projects and schemes around the country to boost or give real meaning to the President’s agenda for youth development,” Mr Gyamfi stated.
Furthermore, the Acting Director-General assured National Service personnel that all outstanding allowances would be fully paid starting Thursday, February 13, 2025, as directed by President Mahama.
He praised the President for swiftly addressing the backlog, stating that “The president had always been concerned about delays in payments to service personnel, even before assuming office.”
He confirmed that delayed payments from August to December would be disbursed, bringing relief to thousands of National Service personnel.
Mr Gyamfi pledged to lead with integrity and assured service personnel that they could look forward to a more reliable payment system in the future.
