The defending champion St Augustine's College has progressed to the quarter-final stage by eliminating Bompeh SHS and Techiman SHS in the one-eighth contest of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) held at the University of Ghana.
Expectations were very high as the defending champion of the NSMQ, St Augustine's College contested with Bompeh SHS and Techiman SHS to retain its title in this year's competition.
Dr Thema Ohene-Agyei was the quiz mistress for the afternoon contest.

The valiant contestants who led St Augustine's College to victory without mercy or fear were Emil Abagrey and Calvin Fiifi Andoh.
The representatives of Bompeh SHS and Techiman SHS were Kelly Amissah, Emmanuel Lord Mensah and Michael Asare, Solomon Amo respectively.
St Augustine's College led the first round of the contest with 21 points. Bompeh and Techiman SHS both scored 15 points on the score table.
Taking the lead in round two St Augustine's College secured 28 points, leaving no chance for the other schools to recover. Bompeh SHS and Techiman SHS secured 19 and 12 respectively at the end of this round.

In the third round, Bompeh SHS scored zero point for the "Problem of the Day" and stayed at 19 points. Techiman SHS scored only four points in this round and scored 16 points on the score table in hope to turn things around.
Still in the lead, St Augustine's College led the third round with 34 points.
Coming back strong in the fourth round, Bompeh SHS scored 36 points but still leading the contest, however, was St Augustine's College with 47 points on the score table. Techiman SHS was nowhere to be found in the contest s it was left at the bottom of the score table with 19 points.
At the end of the contest, the undisputed St Augustine's College, won the contest with 53 points; sending a signal to all schools of their presence.
Bompeh SHS did not make a point in this round and was left with 36 points. At the bottom of the score list, was Techiman SHS with 22 points.
