Mfantsipim School has been knocked out of the 1/8 stage of the National Science and Maths Quiz for the third year running.
The iconic black and red clad boys put up a spirited performance which saw them lead Tuesday’s third single elimination contest from Round One to the penultimate round.
Ghana National College who came into the contest as the seeded school from the 2020 edition of the Primetime competition, tailed their city rivals from start to finish—pushing the contest into a tie after the fifth round.
Alas! It was Ghana National who picked the tie breaker to break the hearts of all Kwabotwe students and old boys.
T.I. AMASS, Kumasi placed third in the contest after only observing the two giants go at each other for five rounds.
Mfantsipim has now lost two successive contests to city rivals, having the lost to St Augustine’s College who eventually went ahead to win the ultimate in 2019.
But perhaps, Ghana National College can toe the steps of Augusco.
To do that, they must go head-to-head with only the best and favourites of the competition.
They face Ketasco from the Volta Region in the quarter who have made it to the semifinal for four consecutive times and have promised to make this year count.
