A young soldier has been confirmed dead in a fatal accident involving one of the vehicles belonging to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operational Support (NAIMOS) team at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred as the team was returning to base after an operation in Obuasi and some forest areas within the region.
According to preliminary information, two police officers and one immigration officer, all members of the NAIMOS taskforce, sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the AGA Hospital in Obuasi.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway to transport the body of the deceased soldier, who is yet to be officially identified, to Accra.
