President John Dramani Mahama has hailed the historic inauguration of Professor Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as Ghana's first female Vice President, describing it as a significant milestone in the nation's journey towards gender equality and inclusion.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, Mr Mahama stated that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s achievement goes beyond political accomplishment, serving as a beacon of hope and a testament to Ghana’s dedication to empowering women in leadership.
“Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s ascension is not merely a political triumph. It signals our collective commitment to fostering a nation where gender equality and female representation are cherished and amplified,” he said.
He added, “This is a powerful testament to the strength of diverse voices to shape the future, voices that have the courage to soar beyond our traditional confines."
Mr Mahama reaffirmed his administration's commitment to policies that promote gender parity and provide equal opportunities for all Ghanaians, regardless of gender or background.
He also expressed hope that this milestone would inspire future generations to break barriers and contribute to the nation’s growth.
“My brothers and sisters, together, as we look to the horizon, we reaffirm our dedication to breaking the glass ceiling that has long hindered many from reaching their full potential.
