The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has announced plans to raise the salaries of workers at Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
The Member of Parliament for Banda assured that steps are being taken to improve their working conditions.
Speaking on 3FM's Sunrise on Tuesday, March 18, Mr Ibrahim revealed that discussions are ongoing with the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to facilitate the salary adjustment.
“I have engaged with the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to see how we can increase the salaries of Zoomlion workers,” he stated.
The Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting sanitation workers, ensuring efficient waste management through structured policies.
Additionally, he announced plans to reintroduce the "summon summon" system while implementing reforms within Zoomlion to meet the country’s growing sanitation needs.
For years, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has played a crucial role in Ghana’s waste management sector, offering comprehensive waste management solutions. The company’s efforts span waste collection, haulage, sorting, recycling, and disposal, significantly contributing to environmental protection, public health, and sustainability.
With the government’s renewed focus on sanitation and improved remuneration, workers in the sector may soon see better conditions, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment.
