Organisers of the Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup have commended Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and several sponsors for their contributions towards the success of this year's competition.
The sixth edition of the annual inter-community football competition was held over the weekend in Accra.
The final was graced by dignitaries ranging from the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Nuhu Osman Sharubutu, three times African Footballer of Year, Abedi Ayew Pele, Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Boamah, MP for Hohoe, Peter Amewu, Black Stars head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor, and many others.
The dignitaries watched on under floodlight as Kasoa defeated debutants Hohoe Zongo 1:0 in a highly competitive final, which surprisingly experimented with Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to lift the trophy.
The VAR was used to award Kasoa a penalty which resulted in the only goal of the game.
In a post on the tournament's official Facebook page, organisers of the competition, spearheaded by Tamimu Issah, thanked a host of contributors for their support and key among them was the Vice President of the Republic, Dr Bawumia, who was acknowledged by the organisers for his "consistent support" of the games.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif was also among the list of individuals who earned appraisal for the successful organisation of the 24-team tournament.

Corporate entities such as; Nasco Electronics, Perla Mineral Water, Ashfoam, Adonko Next Level Energy Drink, Zara M Properties and Decathlon all earned praises from Tamimu and his team.
Black stars Coach, CK Akonnor who had coach earlier told JoySports community tournament such as the Ramadan Cup 'gives us an idea about our talent' before singling out eventual tournament best player, Charles Appiah as a testimony of Ghana's talent pool and likening him to 'Maestro' Abedi Pele earned a commendation from the organisers.

Other key personalities who graced the two-day tournament such as Coach Ibrahim Tanko and Yusif Chibsah were not left unnoticed for their support.
There was a special recognition for John Peter Amewu, MP for Hohoe and Minister for Railways Development, who led the Hohoe team throughout the competition.
His commitment to oversee their successful participation, and ever-presence throughout the entire period earned remarks from organisers who described him as "an example of true leader" whose passion drove his team to reach the final.
"Participants, fans, who comported themselves and the media all played a crucial role and we are ever grateful," it concluded.
