The leadership of the Energy Commission Division (PSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has dismissed with grave concern a report circulating in the media alleging that the staff of the Energy Commission are demanding the termination of the appointment of the Acting Executive Secretary, Ing. Eunice Biritwum.
In a statement signed by the Divisional Chairman, Hubert Nsoh Zan, it stated categorically and unequivocally that these reports are false, baseless, and do not represent the position or sentiments of the staff of the Energy Commission.
As the legally recognised representative body for the staff, the Divisional leadership (PSWU) of TUC clarified that there is calm at work.
“Contrary to the reports of "agitation" and calls for her removal, the work environment at the Energy Commission remains calm, professional, and productive. There are currently no internal protests, industrial actions, or disturbances occurring within any of our offices”.
It expressed concern about the misrepresentation of the staff. “We find it deeply regrettable that external actors or anonymous sources would seek to use the name of "the staff" to pursue an agenda that is entirely unknown to us”.
It added that the Divisional (PSWU) leadership remains the only authorised body to communicate the grievances of the workforce, and “we have issued no such statement”.
On support for institutional stability, the leadership said the staff are currently focused on fulfilling the Commission’s mandate of regulating and managing Ghana’s energy resources. “We urge the public and the media to disregard these sensationalized reports, which appear designed to create unnecessary tension where none exists”.
“We remain committed to the welfare of our members and the stability of the Commission”, it said.
“We advise all media outlets to verify information with the authorized Divisional (PSWU) leadership before publishing claims that involve the collective reputation of our staff”, it concluded.
