Six people reportedly died on the spot in an accident at Atwedie near Juaso on the Accra-Kumasi highway on Friday, October 11, 2024.
The accident occurred when a sprinter bus with registration number AS 6313-16 from Togo to Kumasi crashed into a VIP bus with registration number AC 1550-17 from Tamale to Accra.
One passenger in the VIP bus and five in the Sprinter bus died on the spot.

According to reports, the Sprinter bus driver did a wrongful overtaking, leading to the accident.
Those injured were rushed to the Konongo Government Hospital for medical attention and the deceased have been deposited at the Yawkwei mortuary for preservation.
Assistant Officer at the Asante Akyem Fire Station, John Boakye confirmed the unfortunate incident to Adom News.
He said they have been able to eliminate any hazard that could cause a fire outbreak.
Mr. Boakye cautioned drivers to limit their speed and drive carefully to avert such unfortunate deaths.
