Kow Essuman, former Legal Advisor to ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has called for a measured and transparent response to allegations of suspicious flights and potential money laundering raised by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee. Essuman's comments were shared via his official X account on Sunday, 6th April.
He criticised the Government Communications Minister for dismissing the matter with personal insults, following the minister's reported reference to Ntim Fordjour as a “clown.”
According to Essuman, “When an Opposition MP raises allegations of money laundering and demands an investigation, the Government Communications Minister should refrain from resorting to name-calling. These are serious claims that warrant a transparent investigation, and it is important that the appropriate individuals address them.”

Essuman reminded the public of Ghana’s past challenges with financial integrity during the tenure of former President John Mahama.
“During President Mahama’s previous administration, significant gaps and deficiencies were identified in Ghana’s anti-money laundering framework,” he noted.
“As a result, Ghana was placed on international lists that highlight countries with shortcomings in their anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing efforts.”
He emphasised that in such situations, maturity and due process must prevail over political mudslinging.
Mr Essuman called for restraint and for the relevant institutions to be allowed to conduct proper investigations to either verify or dispel the claims made, rather than resorting to dismissive rhetoric that undermines public trust.
