As part of Joy FM's Silver Jubilee celebration, one-time host of the Super Morning Show, Adjoa Aidoo-Shum could not hide her joy as she recounted great moments working with the station.
“There was always a challenge, there was always excitement…”, she said.
Celebrating 25-years of media excellence, the Super Morning Show was a fun-packed day as host Kojo Yankson engaged with the past workers who shared their unforgettable memories.
For the past 25-years, The Multimedia Group with its Super Hits Radio; Joy 99.7 FM has served its cherished audience with outstanding content.
Connecting from Atlanta Georgia, via phone on Friday, Mrs Aidoo-Shum, narrated how she once missed her wake-up alarm and almost missed her car to the office at 3 am, all in the quest to get to work on time for the Super Morning Show.
She narrated how Kweku Boafo Agyeman introduced her to an upcoming radio piloting in which she was a member of the audience. Weeks after that it paved the way for her to host a program.
“I was really young and it was just amazing,” she recounted.
She said the late Komla Dumor encouraged her for accepting to be on the radio even though it was not part of her plans.
Mrs Aidoo-Shum said even though the journey was not easy, she still misses the days spent with The Multimedia Group and Joy FM.
“There was never a dull moment with Joy FM," she recounted.
The former host of Weekend City Show said it was not easy covering and tracking the news to get what was topical, but her work was made easy with the support of a “great production team.”
"During my time at Joy FM, the production team was excellent so I sat back for them to do most of the things," she said.
Mrs Aidoo-Shum who once worked with Radio Gold in Accra also said when she started radio, most of her shows were not recognised initially, but they ended up having a huge following.
She said, “my best part was the people I met at Joy FM” and one thing that also kept her going was the motivation and letters of encouragement from the audience.
