The Bekwai Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Mr Appiatu, convicted and sentenced three armed robbers who launched a violent attack on travellers along the Jacobu–Anwiankwanta highway to 20 years’ imprisonment.
The trio — Peter Boadi, also known as Kwao Ziggy, Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso are to serve the 20 years each.
According to the prosecution, on Monday, October 27, after finding them guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
The incident occurred at Fiankoma, near Jacobu, on 29th April 2024, where the culprits robbed their victims of two iPhones and GH₵7,000 in cash.
They also compelled one of the victims, a Chinese national, to transfer GH₵30,000 via mobile money to an accomplice’s account.
Following months of intelligence-led operations, police apprehended the suspects between June and September 2024. A subsequent search of Boadi’s residence at Obuasi Bogobiri led to the discovery of a foreign-made Bruni pistol, a locally manufactured firearm, and ammunition, all of which were presented as evidence in court.
The Ghana Police Service has commended its officers for their diligent work and reaffirmed its resolve to ensure that criminals are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
