The External Affairs Officer Alex Kobina Stonne of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has participated in the 24th Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS) First General Assembly meeting on the 7th February ,2026 at Heritage University in Amasaman.
The UniMAC delegation was led by External Affairs Officer Alex Kobina Stonne, accompanied by Secretary Precious Agrobesa Akos and Treasurer Faith Enyam Adjeivi.
The General Assembly brought together student leaders from professional institutions across the country to induct new leaders, receive institutional updates, and present programmes and projects for the year. The meeting was held under the theme inspired by Myles Munroe’s quote, “You were not born to be noticed; you were born to be necessary.”

Key highlights included the swearing-in of GUPS leadership, presentation of the State of GUPS Address, and discussions on flagship programmes such as institutional visits, student entrepreneurship initiatives, unity games, sports development projects, and campaigns addressing student welfare, including sexual harassment prevention.
Special projects aimed at sustainability and income generation, such as GUPS Farms and GUPS on the Move, were also introduced, alongside plans for affordable internet access for students through the GUPS on Spot initiative.
According to Alex Kobina Stonne, UniMAC’s participation reflects the institution’s commitment to ensuring its students are represented in national conversations that shape professional education, partnerships, and opportunities.
The External Affairs Office says insights and engagements from the GUPS platform will inform future collaborations and programmes designed to deliver tangible benefits to UniMAC students, in line with its vision of strengthening student representation beyond campus.
