The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has rolled out a new training programme to help young people build their own businesses.
The five-day workshop, led by Dr. Mrs. Juliana Akushika-Andoh of the Marketing Department and the project lead, focuses on practical lessons in entrepreneurship. Participants learn about business strategy, branding, marketing, accounting, taxes, and more.
“We want to change the mindset of our youth, from job seekers to problem solvers.
Each day includes sessions with experienced Ghanaian entrepreneurs, who share their real-life journeys, including the struggles and lessons they’ve learnt along the way.

The programme is open to everyone, not just UPSA students.
Participants include artisans, traders, graduates, and persons with disabilities.
At the end of the training, certificates would be awarded, and those with outstanding business ideas would get additional support to turn their ideas into real businesses.
Feedback has been very positive, with many calling for the programme to be held yearly.
UPSA hopes to continue and expand the training, reaching even more young people across the country.
