President John Mahama, during his "Thank You" tour in the Western North Region, playfully handed cash to some cultural dancers following their performance, making a pointed gesture.
After the traditional dance display on Tuesday, July 15, Mr Mahama publicly gifted the performers an undisclosed amount of cash.
However, before handing over the money, he held it up and jokingly gestured to the crowd, implying: “This is not dollars.”
The remark, though not verbally expressed effort to downplay the seriousness of the currency claims that have dominated headlines in recent weeks.
The president’s gesture was met with cheers and laughter from the gathered crowd, many of whom saw the moment as Mahama’s way of defusing tension.
