Energy Minister John Peter Amewu has urged electorates in the Hohoe Constituency of the Volta Region to vote for development and not on party lines in the forthcoming general elections. Mr Amewu, who is contesting the Hohoe seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) also appealed to the electorates to consider electing him as their next representative to parliament. The two-time MP hopeful, who is making a third bid said this when he gave out 26 sewing machines to tailoring apprentices who had graduated in Hohoe.”I presented myself twice to represent Hohoe in Parliament, but anywhere I went, people said I am good but my affiliation with the elephant is the problem. My brothers and sisters, the elephant is just a symbol, it won't work. Is it not me Johnny who will work for you?”, he stressed. He promised to ensure the Hohoe Constituency, which is plagued with bad roads and lack of access to basic social amenities in some areas, would see accelerated development if he is elected as Member of Parliament come December 7, 2020. ”I am pleading with you to elect me for the development of Hohoe”, he said Mr Amewu once served as the Hohoe District Chief Executive. He, however, advised the electorate to take advantage of the ”numerous policies” introduced by the Akufo-Addo-led government to better their lives. He later attended a meeting of some 55 microcredit groups under the umbrella Village Savings and Loans Association where he promised monetary support and soft loans from the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC). Mr Amewu has also been engaged in door to door campaigns to introduced himself to the electorates and get acquainted with their challenges and aspirations.
