The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, has presented an ambulance for use at the Wa Airport.
The ambulance is part of the fleet of ambulances provided by the government to all constituencies in the country.
The Region, which has eleven constituencies, has had all of them provided with an ambulance each.
However, two additional ambulances were given to the Region following a request by Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih for the Wa Airport and the Wa campus of the University for Development Studies Hospital.
His request was granted and with a promise from the authorities, there would be an additional ambulance for Bulenge community in the Wa East constituency.
Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih in a brief remark before handing over the ambulance to authorities at the Wa Airport, noted that the ambulance would perform a dual role.
According to him, the Wa Airport does not have the needed facilities to house the ambulance and as a result of that, it will in the meantime, be stationed at the regional head office of the Ghana National Ambulance Service.
''It is only when flights are scheduled that the ambulance would be brought to the airport,'' the Minister further stated.
Caretaker of the Wa Airport, Mohammed Saani Alhassan who received the ambulance on behalf of the Ghana Airports Company, thanked the President, Nana Akufo-Addo and the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council, for the support given to the airport company ever since they started operations at Wa.
He said the presence and operations of an ambulance is key to the smooth operations of Airports the world over and added, donation of the ambulance will improve tremendously their operations at the Wa Airport.
