The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has rewarded Ghana’s Black Queens with a $2000 cash prize for reaching the quarter-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Queens had began the tournament on a slow note, suffering a 2-0 defeat to defending champions South Africa before playing out a 1-1 draw with Mali in their second match.
However, the senior national team turn the tide to beat Tanzania 4-1 in their final group match to secure a spot in the last eight for the first time since 2016.
The Ministry is proud of the Queens qualification and rewarded them with the financial package as further motivation.
Ghana will face Algeria on Saturday August 19 for a slot in the semi-finals of the competition.
