"We will fight until we get there, so it is an ambition. And once I am convinced that this is the path I have chosen to follow, I would continue it until I get there, that's why I am persistent," Manaf Ibrahim told journalists as he filed his nomination form to run in the NPP parliamentary primary in the Asawase Constituency.
When asked if he believes he is the right person to lead the party, Manaf said yes, because he understands local politics and has good relationships with the people.
Manaf said he is confident of winning the primaries to lead the ruling New Patriotic Party into the 2024 elections.
“All politics are local and so far as I am concerned – born and raised in this constituency, I understand the politics here know every corner of the constituency and have good relationship with the people on the ground in the constituency. I have not found another person who matches these kinds of pointers and drivers I have mentioned,” he emphasised.
When asked why he and his uncle, Osman Yussif, are running in the same primaries, Manaf responded, "If he is convinced that he has to be MP to help the constituency, why not?"
He added that, "This is what democracy is all about." That people have the right to make the kind of choices they want when it comes to leadership. This is a very friendly race."
So far, three candidates have chosen nomination forms to run in the next primaries; Manaf Ibrahim, Hajia Zainab, and Osman Yussif.

Manaf was the first candidate to pick the nomination form and the first to file same.
The ceremony drew a large crowd of fans who lined the streets to exhibit their unwavering support and faith in Manaf.
They were dressed in party colours, waved flags, and sang chants showing their support for the contender and the NPP's vision for the Asawase constituency.
The aspirant's message of inclusivity, development, and advancement seemed to be well received by party members.
