The police in the Central Region have arrested some 14 herdsmen to assist in investigation into a rape case against a 13-year-old girl at Gomoa Adzintem.
This follows a manhunt for four herdsmen who pounced and defiled the minor, while inflicting wounds on the victim and her father in the Central Region on Friday, August 27.
According to the Police in its press statement sighted by JoyNews, the special operations carried out by the Formed Police Unit (FPI) together with personnel from the Central East Regional Command led to the retrieval of 2 single barrels and 2 pump action guns.
"Forty-nine AA ammunitions have also been retrieved," the statement signed by Ag. Director-General of Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori added.
Following the arrest, an identification parade will be conducted by the police in the community to help identify the real suspects who undertook the heinous crime against the innocent child and her father.
Currently, the 13-year-old victim and her father, identified as Kwabena Quaye according to reports reaching JoyNews are in a stable condition and receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a directive for a team of clinical psychologists to offer counselling to the affected family.
