The Black Stars of Ghana failed to make it two wins in two games in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after being held by Central African Republic on Sunday, June 5.

After beating Madagascar with a 3-1 scoreline in their opening game, the Black Stars were confident of making it back-to-back wins in the qualifying campaign.

Ghana started the game on the front foot with Mohammed Kudus finding the back of the net in the 17th minute with a strike just outside the penalty box to give Ghana the lead.

However, the opener was short-lived as Karl Namnganda latched onto a through ball to draw Central African Republic level before the break.

The second 45 minutes was far from a comfortable game for the Stars, as they failed to register a shot on target leading to the game ending in a stalemate.

The Black Stars will be back in action for the AFCON qualifiers in September when they play Angola in back to back games.

Up next for Otto Addo and his charges is the 2022 Sirin Super Cup to be held in Japan. The four-nation tournament will feature Ghana, Chile, Tunisia and host nation, Japan.

Ghana will play will first play Japan on June 10, 2022.
