Ghana Premier League defending champions, Samartex 1996, clinched a dramatic 1-0 victory over Legon Cities on Sunday, thanks to a last-minute strike by Seidu Abubakar.
The Timber Giants left it late at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, with Abubakar’s stoppage-time goal breaking the deadlock and delivering three crucial points for Nurudeen Amadu's side.
The visitors, who had shown resilience throughout the match, were left heartbroken as their efforts to hold Samartex unraveled in the final moments.
Abubakar’s composed finish sealed the win, extending Samartex’s unbeaten home record and propelling them up to 4th place in the standings with 17 points.
Meanwhile, Legon Cities' struggles continue as they remain in the bottom three, despite a valiant defensive display that nearly earned them a valuable away point.
The Royals will now look to regroup as they seek to climb out of the relegation zone in the coming fixtures.
